Common Acupuncture Questions

Does It hurt?

Typically people either feel nothing or describe a heavy and expanding feeling, a warmth, an itch, a moving feeling or a slight tickle. Acupuncture is extremely relaxing and patients are usually surprised by how comfortable they feel during and after the treatment.

Is there any risk of infection?

Unlike hypodermic needles (used for injections and to draw blood), acupuncture needles don’t cut you. And, they are sterile and disposable so there’s no risk of infection.

How long do I need to keep coming?

The number of treatments will vary from person to person. Some people do feel immediate relief with just 1 treatment. Chronic conditions usually require a longer course of treatment than acute ones and some people experience more immediate relief than others.

How often do I need treatment?

A typical course of acupuncture will require at least 4-6 treatments most often once per week, after which the condition is reassessed.

What about Nutrition and Diet?

We are definitely able to help you with that. In fact, Chinese Medicine (the medical system of which Acupuncture is a part) is a very advanced system of food therapy. You’ll have the opportunity to try supplements as well.
